Ok, So I wasnt so good at writing all the time. Lets be honest The only people that read this I have been around a week anyway.
Brooklynn and I came up to Utah for Christmas, its been lots of fun. Shes been quite attached to her daddy and loves her aunts and uncles and can now point them all out in a picture. YEAH. She was fun Christmas morning, Santa got her a bean bag chair which she counts then jumps on and her grandparents got her a rocking horse which she likes to climb on and make it neigh.
Its been fun, had some snow which she just ate. Then we both got nice and sick.
We were supposed to fly out today but I called and canceled our flight to be oh so kind to others.. cause who wants to fly with a screaming child and a mom who's too tired to handle her? So now the question is.. When to fly home... ahhh I love trying to figure that out.
Hope you all had a very merry Chirstmas.. I sure did.
Oh and I got to talk to my sister who's out on her mission in Argentina.

Well, I am looking for inspiration to keep up my blog. I am horrible at it. Probably cause Derek always has to computer and I take all my pictures with My dads camera, but those are just excuses. I also want to be more crafty but you have to have money and a place to store those things so I will just wait till I got my own place for that.
In the meantime..
We are up in Logan visiting Derek's family, they are sure happy to have Brooklynn around and we will even be up here for Halloween, even though she doesn't eat candy yet (yup I am on of THOSE moms who doesn't want her one year old eating suckers and candy). We are going to be pirates.. arrrrr. Brooklynn is working on her arrrrrs.. too cute. I will post pictures. I made her little costume all by myself.. yup all me.. my mom was there for moral support. I am defiantly going to miss having her around when we eventually move out.
I will try to keep up my blog from now on.. promise.. for now here are some kind-of recent pictures of our latest outings.

I am on the mood to craft today. Not sure what to do or if I will ever have time to do it seeing as I am waiting my time on the stupid computer! The other problem is I Have no idea what to do, I was thinking of making a diaper bag cause I just cant seem to find on that I like then I realized its cause I want a Mary Poppins bag, one where everything just appears but doesn't take up a TON of space. I have a dress cut out for Brooklynn I really just need to go sew it but I find myself wanting to do something for me. started a skirt awhile ago and I have found that skirts with yokes don't fit me. I made the skirt my size and it fits made the yoke a size bigger and it doesn't.. hmmm I am confused, its too small! how lame. now I don't have the energy to figure out how to make it work. If anyone has any ideas let me know I am open for suggestions!

Maybe I should just go shoe shopping.. just a thought.

Brooklynn Stats.

Well today is her day. I took some pictures after her bath so we could remember how she looked today. She is 29.5 inches tall, and I think she weighs about 25 lbs. That's what the scale upstairs says every time i weigh her and I am a slacker and her shots aren't till the 9th of august.

Some of the this that she loves to do:
* walk.. everywhere. Sometimes just up and down the hall for no reason but to just walk and show me she can.
*swim. we can't take her by the pool are she starts to cry that she wants to get in.
*talk. she will just talk you ear off if you let her.
*read. haha she sits with her books and talks to herself its to darn cute.
* feed the cows. She says moo and point over to the cows and then to the tree for some leaves.
*play with Gus. Gus is Polly's dog and he sits there and takes her unconditional love.
*eat. but it has to be big girl food. no baby food, which is kind of hard sense she still has NO teeth. everyone keeps telling us they are on there way. Hopefully!

Eating cake!

As of tomorrow B will be 1 year old. Yup it was a year ago that I spent 3 painful days in the hospital.. Yup I still remember too all of you who say you forget your labors and that's why we have more kids.. Still remember the WHOLE thing.
Well on Saturday we had a party with family to celebrate her birthday it was lots of fun. We invited Derek's grandparents who live nearby and had a swimming party. B loves to swim. We had a good time and cant believe that our little girl is already 1, wow how time fly's by.

Pollys Dog Gus loved the cake too.

Well this week was fun. We had a house full and Brooklynn loved having kids to play with. My sisters and I started teaching swimming lessons which are going well. Brooklynn is still not feel her normal self which makes me sad. Derek had a ride alone in San Jose on an ambulance and had a good time learning. I drove all the way to Fairfeild and meet some new cousins Wednesday and took my license test on Thursday and I PASSED! Yup Its official I can play with your hair now. I am so excited it feels like I finally finished what I started 2 1/2 years ago. Polly sold one of my watch bracelets for me and now I am going to make more and maybe sell them on esty, still not sure about that yet.
Well that was our week so far. I am off to bed!

Sunshine

Well today was a fun day. My brother Steven and his family suprised my parents and drove down from utah and is staying here to play for awhile, so well we went to the beach. Almost the whole family, It was really fun. Brooklynn didnt like the water so much, which isn't what I expected, she loves to swim in the pool but the ocean was really cold. The sand on the other hand.. She loved. She ate a couple of handfuls of sand when I wasn't watching, but after a while she was content to sit and play in it. It was lots of fun. After we came home and played in the pool to cool off and had a BBQ with family. It was lots of fun till it came time for bed..

Once I got B down to sleep which took a minute.. I took a shower and got out and heard her crying.. I was frustrated that she had woken up till I went in to check on her and she had thrown up all over.. After changing her clothes and sheets I thought maybe it was just the strawberries that she had had. and we went down stairs and she did it again, and a couple more times after that:.(... My poor baby has Heat Stroke.. I am such a bad mommy.. She had a hat on, but lesson learned.. She gets to play in the sand in the shade and drink lots of water next time we are at the beach. Derek went to Walmart to get some pedialtie for her if she wakes up and want something to drink.. Its going to be a rough night, Don't think I will get much sleep Brooklynn is in the pack-and-play at the foot of our bed just in case she throws up again.
Such a sad ending to a Great day. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.

Well its been one of those days, first for a lot of things:

she also stands by herself for long periods of times and walks along everything.. life as we know it is about to change!

well school is out and swimming lessons are about to start, which means I am going to be busy this summer(hopefully) and Derek is still going to school. I am getting ready to take my California license test so thats going to be great(if i pass, pray for me). brooklynn is still growing and loves to go swimming.

Well we have been up to a lot lately. Derek is still going to school at night but is getting ready to fly off to Utah to test with Salt Lake City Fire (here's hoping they like his personality and call him back in June!). I am shutting my thumb in the car door while trying to be ever so soft so I don't wake up Brooklynn from her much needed nap. She stayed asleep through my heavy sobbing( it really hurt, still does) needless to say Derek and my mom have been lots of help as I cant really do anything with my left hand without a thumb.

We are still helping Nana and Papa plant a garden, planted some corn tonight, yummo! It is fun to watch it all slowly grow, but I am getting impatient and want to eat already.

Brooklynn is crawling everywhere cant keep her still, if you leave the slidding glass door open she crawls right out and eats the dog food, yup dog food, its funny cause she doesn't like it she spits it out, but it keeps going in her mouth. hmmm maybe one day she'll figure it out. She crawls over to the door whenever she hears open she likes to sit and like the glass its too funny.

Everyone still loves her when ever we go out and she continues to give them the funniest look ever I will have to find a good picture and post it soon.

My sewing is progressing, I made a skirt for my niece for her birthday this week, I think she really likes it, it was a silky material so that was good practice for my silk skirt that I want to make for myself. Lots of fun projects to make, allways up for new ideas if you have any ( i bet my mom would love that)

oh anyone have an idea for a good mothers day gift that doesn't cost umm. anything or very much. Derek will be spending Mothers day in Utah with his family and I will be here, its kind of sad but its all good, I get to talk to my little sister when she calls!

Easter Dress

I had an extra week to do it because we were so lucky to have Conference on Easter, and what a Great Conference it was.

Ode to a high chair.

I know, I know, a high chair, really? But have you ever not had a high chair? Brooklynn is now 8 months old and we were using a high chair that my Brother bought for my mom, It looks like one from a restaurant so it was working, but shes getting bigger and needed one with a tray, and she was too small for the restaurant style one, got stuck in it a couple of times.
My mom gets all these points from things that she buys and she had enough to get a great 3 in one high chair, It will eventually be a booster seat. (but that's besides the point). The first day we got it I put it together and was able to cool dinner while Brooklynn enjoyed her high chair and finger munchies, she thought she was the coolest thing.
So thanks mom!

Happy April fools.. I know I am a day late but Brooklynn thought that she would play a great joke and surprise me with the best of all things.
When Brooklynn woke up from her nap I feed her and then we decided to take a bath sense she hadn't gotten one the night before and she had spit up in her nap and it was now stuck in her hair, so as I was getting into the tub with her she was just standing there and I started to smell something, not really thinking much sense I was in the bathroom I didn't notice.. till i sat her down and notices a nice brown log... Yup she pooped in the tub.. Sweet she must have know it was April fools.. so after Derek picked it up( my hands were to wet to fit in the gloves) we washed out the tub and started over.. oh well we had a good laugh!

Onesie Dress?

I did it. I made the "dress" it was a creative project and my mom helped out some.. ok a lot. She knows a lot about sewing. Its great! I saw a dress like this at a quilting show that my mom sister and I went to in Feburary and we thought $10 for a pattern was kind of crazy so I figured it out on my own, and think its pretty darn cute. We saw some others online but I still like mine more. I need to work out the kinks betters on the next one, but this was the first one.

Its not the best picture of the dress, and the back has a cute little button that holds the sides together. I put elastic on it so that we can get it over Brooklynn's head. The front is stitched to the onesie than attached on the other side with the button. I like it.

Well I said something about posting a video and well that didn't work so well. We will try again later.
Last Thursday we took advantage of the lovely weather and went to Capitola beach, It was such a blast watching Brooklynn playing in the sand. Now I did have to keep brushing the sand out of her mouth and hand, but I just feel like I need to clear the air about caring if she eats sand. If I didn't want her to eat it I wouldn't have put her on the ground. Right? Oh well, she was just having some fun, it was so cute. Luckily I had my phone and it takes pretty good pictures.

She was loving the sand, at first she was just feeling it, then she started to grab it by the hand fulls and proceeded to shovel it into her mouth.
It rained Friday .. I guess its a good thing we went Thursday.

Brooklynn has also picked up crawling, yup that's right, buckle down the hatches shes into everything. We were at my nieces 14th birthday party where all the girls were playing with her and my sister had her while Carli was opening presents and she saw me and started to cry. So Jodi put her on the ground and she drunkenly made her way over to me. It was so cute. Sense then it has been non stop everywhere. We were at a friends work and she was chasing a little dog that was totally scared of her. Now that was funny!

I have started to pick up sewing as I think I have mentioned before, I dunno. I have made some shoes so far, My moms scissors got sent away with mine to get sharpened so that put a damper on the sewing for a while. They are cute hu? Next I am going to attempt an Easter Dress for Brooklynn and a skirt on a onesie, hope they turn out cute.

Derek is still up to no good at school, learning how to do I.V.'s and stuff, came home with some good looking arms on Wednesday. He is getting excited. He has picked up softball again with San Juan's Fire Department, they have little team for the summer I guess.

So it the last blog I promised pictures, sorry they have taken so long. In this one I think I will promise some videos to come. We have been putting our Christmas present to use.

Sense I last blogged I have begun to embark upon some..(or many) projects. I am going to start making some random crafty things: bracelets for all your watches, baby shoes, baby clothes, etc.. Living with my mom gives me the opportunity to really learn how to sew. (shes awesome at it) so I thought Iwould put her to the test. I am excited to see how it goes. I am going to try to sell them and see where it goes.

As for Brooklynn she is learning to crawl.. its coming.. I give her a week at the most. She really just wants to get up and walk. she is pulling her self up on everything if she gets the chance. She has also been rolling everywhere so there is no need for her to be crawling, she gets where she wants to go just fine.
She has started to wave hello and goodbye, its pretty cute and usually accompained by a slight "hi" sound, pretty funny. Shes also picked up on clapping. Shes really good at copying whatever you are doing, she was trying to whistle at Nana last night.
It sure is fun watching her grow up.

Derek is doing well in school. Just had his first of 4 major exams this week and passed it so that's Great. He spends his days studying if hes not at work or preparing his lesson for the 10 year olds at church. He has had one night out learning, he spent it at the labor and delivery floor in San Jose where he got to assist in delivering 4 babies, Watchinga 5th and scrubbing in for a C-Section surgery, He came home with a big bouquet of flowers for me and said this is for you for what you went through 7 months ago. He is really enjoying school.

6 Months and 4 Years.

Well its now been 6 months since we had baby Brooklynn, and what a crazy 6 month they have been. She is now moving all over the place trying to get anywhere but not yet crawling, its fun to watch her grow.. she likes to say mamama, not really know what shes saying but she does look at me when it happens.. I WIN! I had my sister-in-law take some pictures and I will get them posted soon.
As for the 4 years. Yup you guessed, Derek and I have been married for 4 years now. I think I have counted 6 houses we've lived in not including living at the in-laws a couple of times, multiple jobs and schools. It has been crazy but we are still in it together and enjoying every minute with each other and Brooklynn.

Derek is full speed into Paramedic school, Its taking up all of his free time and he loves it. I am looking for a new hobby to keep me entertained, think I might take up sewing now that I have my mom to help :)

Christmas was good. We had the whole family over to my parents house (except for Jo and Jon) and we played our annual kick ball after presents to get out the energy, you just had to make sure you didn't step in any puppy surprises. My parents got two puppies for Christmas you could say and Brooklynn just loves them. She laughs and smiles when they are around, as well the cats outside the glass door.. Hours of entertainment for her. Makes getting ready nice.

As for new years.. well we didn't do much. Brooklynn decided she wanted to stay up till the new year with us but fell asleep just shy of 12. As for me I haven't celebrated in the last couple of years due to work, and was tired, but I made it through had some bubbly and went to bed. I know we're boring.

What's New II

Well, Its been a few months since either of us have had the time to get on and blog about life. We decided to call this post "What's new II" because basically if we've only been blogging every few months its all new. I promise that we'll get better and spend more time blogging.

We recently spent a weekend at Yosemite National Park, It was FREEZING, At first we were disappointed that there was no snow, but we got blanketed with fresh snow on our first night there, It was enough snow to snow us in for a day, so we had a movie night and enjoyed each others company while watching a fire to stay warm, Then we spent time in the park.

This was Derek's first trip to Yosemite National Park, Needless to say, He loved it. Yosemite is beautiful, and I think we were lucky to catch it on a day with fresh snow.

We bundled Brooklynn up in a pink snow suit, She couldn't move around in it much because it was so thick but I think she managed to stay the warmest out of all of us.

During this trip, we spent time at the AHWAHNEE Hotel just walking around, enjoying their warm huge open fire pits and watching the light shed on Half-Dome nearby,

We also spent time walking around The Giant Redwood Trees in Yosemite Park. (Obviously the day before all the snow fell, but it was still really cold)

We borrowed a play jumper for Brooklynn to jump in, Its her new favorite toy (Thanks David and Kristin) You could even go as far as to call it the new babysitter, This thing is GREAT, It allows us to cook, study, work on the computer, and even blog... Maybe we'll get more done with this thing around, She'll spend up to 30 minutes at at time playing and jumping.

We recently fed Brooklynn her first solid foods, She went crazy for the rice cereal, She's been watching us eat for months now and we finally decided it was time.

Derek is working pretty well Full-Time at REI in Marina just feet from the ocean (Recreational Equipment Incorporated) which also happens to be one of his favorite stores of all time, They sell camping and human powered sports gear. He is a customer service specialist, and gets to give advice to people for upcoming outdoor trips as well as hear about fancy trips customers have taken that only make him feel jealous.

Finally, (Here's the BIG news:) We found a way for Derek to be able to attend Paramedic School, Remember how a few months ago we were worried about the future and didn't know what was going to happen because our student loans for the program fell through? Well, we tried again and this time, Its all smiles! Derek starts Paramedic school on January 12th, He can't wait, This is the final step towards reaching his ultimate dreams and we feel like its going to be a great opportunity. He'll still be attending Westmed College which is a prestigious name here in the Bay Area of California.... Leave no doubt that Derek will be spending the next 10 months diving into textbooks and for once actually Loving it..

We really miss the snow (At least Derek does) and as Christmas approaches, We just want to wish you all a Merry Christmas, We probably won't be back on to blog until after its over at the current rate we are going. For now, We'll stay here where compared to Utah its quite warm, and we'll watch the prickly pears on the cactus' growing in our driveway ripen.

So What's New?

Haha, I have to admit I think it was funny posting the small link I did last night. I've been meaning to get online and blog for a while, With a new baby, a large yard filled with projects and family one could say that we've been pretty busy. Living in California has been fun, Even though Derek isn't going to Paramedic school at the moment we've managed to have fun. Derek has been rebuilding the deck here at home and doing other various projects around the house to keep busy.

We celebrated my 24th birthday at the beginning of the month, Derek along with his parents bought me tickets to go see WICKED on Broadway in San Francisco. The show itself was completely amazing, We both enjoyed every minute, It is filled with surprised and a fun filled story, The music as well is amazing. Great times were had. It happens that the huge California rain storm (Biggest in 10 years they say) happened on the same day so needless to say that traffic sucked on the way up.

Brooklynn can hold her head up on her own now, She loves to play on her tummy, Seems like everyday something new happens and she become more alert. I can't believe that she is 3 months old now. Time sure flies! We took Brooklynn to The Monterey Fisherman's Wharf, (New Family Picture on top) It was kind of a cold night but we wanted to get out and she seemed to really enjoy it, Since we forgot her stroller we'd just hold her and she was a fighter (as far as sleeping goes) until we got back into the car and she crashed.

Well, I guess thats it for now, Brooklynn's calling for us.

It Changes Again!

Hey Guys, Its Derek: Well: Dang! That's about all I can say. As it turns out, Life has thrown us another curve ball. I went through several different banks and none of them would back up my student loans because of this rotten economy. I suppose it doesn't help that tuition was nearly 14K and I wouldn't have been working as I went through Medic school. Amy and I will be heading back to Utah here in a while, but for now I think we'll try to enjoy our time here in California. I recently spoke with a past Fire Chief of mine to see if they had any open spots and luckily he agreed to offer me a spot on the department again. Once home, I plan on getting a job, supporting my family and keeping a positive attitude, I'll continue to test everywhere and anywhere that I can attempting to find a professional firefighter job near home, A task that is proving to be really tough but I dare not say impossible. In the past I have competed against more than 600 applicants for one or two positions and I'm happy that I placed 10th overall in that specific example.

In the near future we'll be dragging our family back to Utah with hopes of furthering my education and hoping to make enough money in the meantime to be able to afford Medic school on my own. Yes, I'm quite crushed that I had to leave the program that I've been in, However I'm keeping my hopes and attitude high, No sense in letting it get me down, I guess that's the simple message I'm trying to convey with this post. We're looking forward to what the future holds for us, We have no idea what that is, or what we were supposed to learn from this lesson in moving all the way out to California just to turn around and try to make it work in Utah again however I'm sure that there is a plan out there for us and we'll figure it out in time. A New Chapter

The past few weeks we've had limited access to the internet, We have been staying in limbo with The Greens in Logan. It has been fun and nice, Grandma and Grandpa Green have loved having Brooklynn around.
We blessed Brooklynn in a park nearby after listening to Elder Robert D Hales speak in a Stake Conference locally, It was very uplifting. Blessing her outside was sure fun. Well: Its time for a new chapter in our lives. We are officially moving to San Jose California so Derek can attend Paramedic School at WestMed College. We're pretty excited about this opportunity. Derek will be working with San Juan Fire Department, (Well, I guess he'll be Volunteering, but he's happy to be getting back into the fire action) We will both miss Utah and all that is has to offer us, Hopefully friends and family will come visit us! Seriously, Feel free to come visit us, We'll show you a good time around the Bay Area. Its going to be a long drive.

We are still learning as we go and always try to change our schedules to fit hers as she changes her mind daily. My mom left last Friday and we are still getting by.

So: What's New? We have started to pack as we are moving in with Derek's parents next Saturday and the old plan was to move to California in September so Derek can attend paramedic school in San Jose, but new ideas in the Fire-service locally have presented themselves and now its unsure where we may end up. Well keep you posted on whats happening but until then let the packing begin!

WOW! Its hard to believe that one week ago little Brooklynn was being "plucked" from her home of 9 + months and being handed to her new Daddy. We're not biased at all, But we think she's the cutest thing in the world! We love being parents and all the challenges that come with it! We were both very nervous at first, and still have our butterflies at times but we are learning as we go and honestly loving every minute of it. No one really tells you how nerve racking leaving the hospital really is, you are so excited to go home and sleep (so you think) in your own house, but driving your new precious cargo home and having to watch stupid drivers around you is so scary. Then you get home and the real nerves set in.

The first night home from the hospital was quite exciting. For some reason we both had the idea that she'd come home and sleep well.... She didn't.. We were both up with her most of the night, but night after night she has gotten better at sleeping at night after eating.. You don't realize how nice it is to have a nursery that will help put baby to sleep. However, We LOVE having her at home and can't get enough of watching her every move.

She has had lots of family visitors , her two sets of grandparents, and two sets of great grandparents, and they all say she is the cutest.. which is to expect, It's what they all say. Daddy thinks shes cute too, He really can't get enough of her.. When she is awake she loves to just look around and explore her new world, and when she is sleeping she makes the funniest faces.. cant wait for them to start when she is awake and playful. She has had two baths so far, they aren't her favorite, but then again she hates having her diaper changed too..
We love her tons and tons and are excited to see what the future holds for our new family.
My mom has been here to help out around the house and keep me from doing to much..(anything really) but i guess that's what happens when you get a major abdominal surgery, Right? We love having her here, she is a life saver, and a great cook! I am recovering well, and taking it easy to make sure I don't over do it, but feeling pretty good most of the time..

Hey Everyone,
I just wanted to let you all know that Brooklynn is here! She was born at 5:17 AM on July 20th, 8 Pounds, 12 Ounces, 21 Inches long. She didn't really fit through my pelvis, so she actually came C-section after 2 and a half hours of pushing and trying to get her here normally. We can both barely express the joy and satisfaction as well as the suddent bit of fear that hit us when she arrives, Neither of us could really hold back the tears. She's Beautiful, Simply put... It's been a long long day, For those of you who may not already know, We were in labor and delivery for nearly 36 hours before the decision was made to go C-Section. We are both pretty exhausted but can't stop watching Brooklynn's every move. We will certainly take more time to post more details and pictures once we get a bit more rest. Until now, Here's a few.

Hey Readers:
Its Derek, Amy and I are currently prepping to check into the hospital for Brooklynn's arrival, Amy, as well as I seriously can not wait for her to come, We are looking forward to being parents, and the challenges that come with it. I figured as I'm killing a bit of time on the internet that I would share with you all something else that I really can not wait for, That is NBC's new show, "Trauma" This is my dream in action, Someday I hope to land a job with San Francisco Fire, These guys portray the dream, and although its not out yet, I really hope the series does a good job portraying what it is that we try to do.

Well, Brooklynn is now a week over-due. We thought and hoped that she would be here by now, Apparently she's happy and comfy in my belly. I just thought we would update those of you who are wondering as to what is going on. We went to the hospital yesterday to have a Fetal Non-Stress Test done to see how she is doing, after our Dr. looked at the readings, He called to tell us that Brooklynn is a very healthy baby, That's always good news to hear.

As for this waiting game that we have been playing, If she doesn't come naturally between now and then, I'm going to be induced on Sunday the 19th, We'll post pictures as soon as we get to that point. We're really looking forward to being parents.. Keep posted!

Thanks for all the help and website links. I found some fun ideas and stole some off your blogs.(Hehe) This is what I came up with till I ran out of clips. I made all but 2, got them for a dollar each, couldn't pass it up. I also made the cute bow board to hold them.

We also had a great 4th of July. We went and watched the Stadium of Fire fireworks from the MTC field which ended up not being as good as we remember but still fun. Some good friends of ours came and played games while we waited. The only downfall was there was only 4 bathrooms so I waited 30 mins to use on and got out right before the fireworks started.. good timing!!

Ok. So I think I can totally make all those cute little girl head bands and flowers but I am having the hardest time trying to find all the pieces, does anyone know where I could find them or any helpful tips on making them. I also just saw the cutest little tu-tu, does anyone know how to make those? there is no way I am paying what they want for those! So thats it, I am just trying to kill time while I sit at home waiting for Brooklynn.

Busy week

Well I had a baby shower last Friday. It was so much fun. Some of my good friends from school put it on for me, they are so cute and put a ton of thought into it. We played the diaper candy game and my mother-in-law totally ate a piece of "poop" trying to figure out what kind of candy it was. We got a lot of good stuff that we still needed and some way cute clothes.. Brooklynn is going to look good once she comes to play. It was fun to see friends from school and from way back in the high school days, we had alot of fun. (Pictures to come soon) The next day Derek and I went to target with a coupon and got the rest of the things that we needed for her arival and we are now good to go and ready at any time. Bags are packed and in the car along with the car seat, we are just waiting now.

I had to play too, although I wasn't very good at it.

Also this week.. I GRADUATED.. well kind of. I am really done with my hours this tuesday, but the school does a big gradtuation every 3 months because everyone finishes at different times. It was lots of fun, and alot of my friends are graduating this month and it is happy and sad at the same time.. I am excited but the nerves are kicking in.. wondering if i am going to be ready for the real world of hair.. but it's going to be a great learning experance!. We also had to have a model for gratuation, I did one of the Front desk girls, we colored and styled her hair it was lots of fun and i was very proud of my work..

Derek got a fun suprise and blessing this week.. He starts school in september and was wanting to get a laptop for school.. We found out a week ago that we won a Dell laptop through the company we did our taxes with.. It is a really good laptop and it came in the mail this week and Derek has had a fun time setting it up and playing with it.

Told you it was a crazy week and our bet is its just going to get more crazy with my due date growing closer, but the doctor said on wednesday that shes probably not coming till her due date or later..(isn't that what you want to hear when your whole body aches) but you never know right..:) Hopefully she comes soon! We can't wait!

Its Official! I'm Full Term! Brooklynn is still inside growing like crazy, She's really fun to play with and we can't wait to have her here with us! I'm 37 weeks pregnant which is considered Full Term. Our most recent visit to the Dr came with the news however, that She'll probably come Late as he told us to add a week onto the due date "for our own sanity" The official Due Date for those of you who are wondering is July 9th.. I thought we'd post recent belly pictures and a video for those of you who'd like to watch of Brooklynn moving inside.

In other news: We went to see Beauty and the Beast at the Scera outdoor theater. The show was really fun, and the cast did a great job!The stage was made out of books and it was quite fun to watch how the set changed.
It was a rainy day but we managed to catch a time slot when it didn't rain, Although it was quite cold!Until Next Time:.....

We realized recently as we've been preparing for Brooklynn's arrival just how much stuff is needed to prepare for a baby's arrival.. We've been running around like chickens with our head's cut off with our rare free time and getting things we needed for Brooklynn, We're about half way there, and while the excitement and stress are climbing as we race to get ready before she decides to debut, We went for a drive to check out baby bouncer's the other day and ended up getting the "soothing vibrations" pink baby bouncer with high hopes that it will work as explained On the way to pick up the bouncer, we drove past "Porters Place" with a line going out the front door, This line was not there on the way home so we stopped off to eat dinner at "Porters Place" in Lehi. We've been spending some of our free time watching "Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives" on the Food Network, so the idea of eating at a "Dive" with a line out the door got us quite excited, Derek ordered the Bison Burger with Baked Beans, The Best He's Ever Had, (Yes Better than our own home-made). I ordered the French Dip with Fries, They cut the potatoe into 4 and fry it, It was great!!! They cook the food right at the bar in front of you, We thought that was pretty cool as well. We submitted the place online to the producers of the show, Maybe it will show up on a future episode?

...And finally, We decided on and bought a stoller system, The verdict is the Chicco Cortina Travel System, This thing is GREAT! The car seat fits comforably and easily into the stroller system and base. It's the only one we've seen with the ablility to fold the stoller with a single hand and it stands freely on it's own when folded. The safety points of the car seat are the highest of any out there, and the best part.. We got a Screamin' deal! Woo-Hoo! ( A special THANKS to Derek's Mom for hitting up the JJ COLE Warehouse Family Sale and scoring some awesome things!)

I've had requests from several people for some more updated belly photos. Its fun feeling her kick. At this point we get to go into the Dr ever 2 weeks instead of once a month.This is me at 30 weeks along, Just 10 more weeks to go!
I'm in a race with Brooklynn at school to see if I can get done and have some relaxation time before she comes.Here's a fun picture, Looking up at my belly.

As many of you know we recently went to California on a trip for a baby shower and Paramedic School Interviews for Derek, The shower was great! Lots of fun clothes, but we need so much more before we're really going to be prepared, This having a baby stuff is quite a task for those of you who haven't already gone through this and figured that out ;) Derek is enjoying working at Northstar alarm as a credit agent. The days are going by slowly for him with hope that it picks up soon.
Here is the good news, Derek got accepted into Westmed College of Medicine's Paramedic Program and starts school in September. We will be moving to California in August for school, He is VERY excited to have been accepted and is looking forward to school, He's also got a job waiting (Paid Call) with San Juan Fire.

What Now??

Hey, Sorry to anyone who actually follows our blog. We have been really busy with our lives and haven't had much "Blog worthy" activity going on so we haven't been posting. Here is what's new in our lives. Amy is going to school now Full-Full time at Paul Mitchell, She's putting in 13 hour days at school on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, as well as still going to regular school hours on Monday and Friday. She's still working weekends at Goodwood. Our baby girl is really active and moving and kicking all the time, It's really fun to feel her kick, The best part is that she will follow Derek's hand and voice to either side of my tummy and kick there.

We celebrated Derek's 25th birthday on Conference Sunday by cooking a tri tip dinner with home made baked beans that were delicious, We had some friends over and played a game of Cranium, Boys Vs Girls, and of course, The girls won as usual when we play. We also baked a cheesecake and the crust got stuck to the pan because we swirled carmel into the graham crackers.

Derek finally got a good job, He'll be working as a credit authorization agent with Northstar Alarm company, It should be a good job, he will be working 6 days a week but certainly isn't complaining after nearly 4 months of job searching in Utah County where it is near impossible to find a job.
For those of you who didn't hear, Derek tested with West Valley City Fire and out of 640 total applicants for the job, he was placed #10 overall on their hiring list, That's great, but not great enough because we doubt that they will reach that number in the next 2 years, However he contacted West Valley Fire about the job and his performance, he was told that if he had been a Paramedic he would have been offered the job, This is because most Fire Departments now days are looking for Fire-Medics..
As a result, Derek and I have decided on a Paramedic school, Westmed College of Medicine in San Jose California, We are traveling out this week to finalize everything that is needed to finish enrollment and acceptance into the school, We are really excited, and think that this will be a wonderful opportunity to get out there and play, We'll be back in California which makes both of us happy, and Derek will also be working with The San Juan Fire Department during school.

This week has been filled with anticipation, excitement, and also some nothingness. we finally managed to have a Date-Night which included going to Babies R Us and getting educated on Cribs, Strollers, and other necessary baby equipment.

At school I've been busy doing lots of weaves and up-do's as well as regular cuts, School is still fun and going well. I cut Derek's hair that he's been growing out for a while as well, he was quite reluctant to cut it but happy to do it. I'll tell you why in a minute.
As far as what we've been doing this week, The both of us have been pretty busy. Our girl keeps kicking me and she's finally big enough that Derek can feel her kicking my tummy as well. The Dr. said she's still healthy and is actually a bit bigger than expected. Maybe she'll come early, Who knows!

Derek spent the week Testing for a very coveted position as a Professional Firefighter with one of the busiest Fire Department's in the State, West Valley City Fire Department. We went up to Salt Lake City together and I slept in the car while he took the written exam, 600 overall applicants took this exam.. The great news is that he passed and was one of the few chosen to advance to the West Valley Fire Physical Agility Test a week later.. This test is NOT an easy thing to pass but he passed that test as well and is advancing to the final stage called "Oral Board Interview Panels" where he sits in front of a panel of Fire Chief's and Firefighter's and gets basically drilled with situational questions, then receives a score... If he passes this next test we'll be staying around here because Derek will be living his dream... We have high hopes!

Its a Girl!

Amy's Belly. At 21 weeks pregnant, Sadly this is the first belly picture that we've taken.

Well, We went to the Dr. today to get our 20 week ultrasound, and found out that Its going to be a Girl! We are both really excited and filled with love for her already. We've included a few pictures from our ultrasound experience and hope that you enjoy them. This was the first time for Derek to see the baby and we both loved every second of it.

She was quite shy for a while and kept wiggling all over the place, It always seemed to be in the opposite direction that the technician wanted her to but she eventually showed her face. In this picture she's even covering her face with her 2 little arms and hands, This was right at the beginning of the ultrasound so it was quite funny.She spent most of the time facing away from where the ultrasound handle was and with some urging and poking she turned quite a bit, but she's always wiggling as has been constantly for the last few weeks. In this next picture she rolled over and showed us her back and spine, Although she was shy for quite a while and didn't really want us to see her she eventually got over it and spread both legs for us to help us find out the gender, (Female) which is what this is a picture of.This is her profile picture, It took some poking a bit to get her to keep still enough because as I've said she was moving all over the place by this point in the Ultrasound.And finally, This one is our favorite. This is another profile picture, only here She's sucking her thumb. No kidding... She's already a thumbsucker, That's going to be a tough habit for us to break her of.Derek is currently working on making a video with some of the Ultrasound pictures so that you can watch her wiggle and we are hoping to get that up in the next few weeks.

Just Time

Well, a few weeks has gone by and we haven't made any recent posts. So here we are per request. Things are still going well, School, Work, etc. I've been busy at Paul Mitchell The School with lots of hair appointment for stuff like Perms (I hate perming hair) and general cuts. Derek's still out looking for a job, Its a tough market, especially in the Fire field, He's had a few offers but we are waiting for Corporate to approval for new hire's so again, we are waiting.. We still haven't heard from LA City Fire but he has an upcoming Test with West Valley City Fire Department later in the month. Derek is looking into Paramedic schools across the west coast and we are attempting to sort out how we can work that out this fall if he doesn't get a professional Fire job between now and then.
We had a fun Valentines day, Didn't do much, We hung out during the day and I worked that night. Be sure to check back a week from Today (Tues. Feb 24) because we will be finding out and posting the sex of our baby! Can't wait! Until then....

Well its my day off from school so I thought I would tell you all about the great adventure we had this weekend...

Derek was able to test with LA fire department as well as 900 people on the same day.. Not very good odds but oh well... It was fun to get out of Utah for the weekend.. We got to play in LA, Hollywood and see the LA temple. We had fun..

On the way home we stopped in Vegas to walk around and get some pictures...we had some fun, and just to let you know I am pretty good at blackjack! Haha
Vegas was fun, We spent time walking through the casino's and catching as many free shows as we could such as the Bellagio's fountain show and the MGM Grand's Lion Habitat (Very Cool) Well it was a little bit on the rainy side and we were keeping our eyes on the weather the whole weekend but when we got to Cedar City Sunday night and it was snowing, so we got a hotel and continued home Monday morning.. and just out side of Nephi, just a few mins from home we were pushed off the road by a Semi and spun out into the middle divider full of snow and mud, in our rental.... Needless to say the trip could have ended a little better but no one was hurt just the car, which is sad because it was cute..
Now we just wait to here back from LA. We'll keep you posted.

Well we are still trying to settle into out apartment, which is pretty difficult to do when you are never home so I cut back on my hours at work so I could get some sleep every once and a while, but you can still come see me if you want. School is going good for me. did two awesome colors this week and was very proud of myself. Went to the doctors on Wednesday and had to wait an extra hour cause the doc had to run a deliver a baby.. baby is doing good listened to the heart beat for the first time and Derek was there and got to hear it. just a couple more weeks to go to find out what the little tike is going to be. We are trying to figure out a way to get Derek to LA on the 24th to go test with their department so that's really exciting.. And so far the new ward looks promising.. well hope you guys have a great week!...

Oh yeah new years!.. well I had school then had to go to work and got home around 11:45, we watched the ball drop some fireworks out our window.. and yeah went to bed! it was great.. the best part was sleeping in the next day!
